Set in Victorian England, the film stars John Mills and Alec Guinness and was filmed at St Mary's Marshes, Restoration House in Rochester and on the River Medway. The House was used as the Satis House of Dickens, the home of Miss Havisham. Probably known for being one of the most iconic scenes in Dickens' literature, Restoration House is the real life inspiration for Miss Havisham's home in Great Expectations. This connection made it perfect as the home of Miss Havisham in the 1946 feature production of Great Expectations staring John Mills. Approach it via Vines Park and take in the awe-inspiring structure and gardens in the same way as Pip. Pierrepoint The true life tale of England’s most famous hangman. Following in the family tradition, Albert Pierrepoint makes a name for himself as the most respected hangman in the country. Pierrepoint was known for executing some of England’s most infamous murderers, such as Ruth Ellis, the last woman ever to be executed in England, as well as his part in the Nuremberg executions. Pierrepoint The true life tale of England’s most famous hangman. Following in the family tradition, Albert Pierrepoint makes a name for himself as the most respected hangman in the country. Pierrepoint The true life tale of England’s most famous hangman. Following in the family tradition, Albert Pierrepoint makes a name for himself as the most respected hangman in the country. Veer Epic Bollywood Drama from director Anil Shamra, which was written by and starred Bollywood legend Salman Khan as Veer, an Indian warrior in the British Raj who fights for his country and the princess that he loves. Various scenes were filmed at the The Historic Dockyard, Chatham and the romantic ruins of Rochester castle. The dockyard provided the perfect setting for the funeral sequence as well as a winter scene and the Ropery complex once again doubled for a Victorian street.

Pierrepoint The true life tale of England’s most famous hangman. Following in the family tradition, Albert Pierrepoint makes a name for himself as the most respected hangman in the country. Pierrepoint was known for executing some of England’s most infamous murderers, such as Ruth Ellis, the last woman ever to be executed in England, as well as his part in the Nuremberg executions. The location was used to film the crowd reaction to the hanging of Ruth Ellis at the end of the film.

The scene opens with Johnny English driving towards Dover, the road used was the A2 towards Jubilee Way. Eagle eyed viewers will briefly see a shot of the port at Dover as Johnny English races to France.

Filming took place at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. The Dockyard proved to be an ideal location with its cobbled streets, industrial buildings and authentic Victorian architecture. If you watch closely you can see the Chatham Dockyard Seal as Holmes and Watson travel to see Blackwood in jail.

The Golden Compass This Oscar winning adaptation of Phillip Pulman's first book in the 'His Mark Materials' trilogy stars Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Dakota Blue Richards as Lyra. The Golden Compass is an epic fantasy adventure that sees Lyra set out on a long and difficult journey to save her kidnapped friends; with a little help from talking polar bears, a group of witches, her own personal daemon and, of course, a magical golden compass. The fictional Norwegian port of Trollesund, where Lyra meets her armoured bear protector - Lorek Byrnson was filmed at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham. The Historic Dockyards proved to be an ideal location to recreate scenes from Lyra's journey to the Artic.

Amazing Grace From writer Steven Knight and director Michael Apted, comes a film drama which tells the story of one man, William Wilberforce, and his fight to abolish the slave trade in the late eighteenth century. Starring Ioan Gruffudd, Albert Finney and Michael Gambon, 'Amazing Grace' is filmed in various locations across London and Kent, including Chatham's Historic Dockyard. After seeing this film, the song may never sound quite the same again! The scenes from The Houses of Parliament were shot at the 1743 Church within Chatham Historic Dockyard.

The old paint store at Chatham Dockyard was used as a location for Vanity Fair.

Veer Epic Bollywood Drama from director Anil Shamra, which was written by and starred Bollywood legend Salman Khan as Veer, an Indian warrior in the British Raj who fights for his country and the princess that he loves. Various scenes were filmed at the The Historic Dockyard, Chatham and the romantic ruins of Rochester castle. The dockyard provided the perfect setting for the funeral sequence as well as a winter scene and the Ropery complex once again doubled for a Victorian street.

James Bond Trail Nowhere are you closer to James Bond and his creator, Ian Fleming, than in Kent. No other county can claim the same associations of fact and fiction, deliberately used as the background to Flemings books. Kent has been host to three of the James Bond feature films providing locations for the 1967 version of Casino Royale, Die Another Day and The World is Not Enough. These locations were Manston Airport, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Mereworth Castle and the Port of Dover. Used for the filming of The World Is Not Enough, the dockyard plays host to the action packed boat chase.

Pierrepoint The true life tale of England’s most famous hangman. Following in the family tradition, Albert Pierrepoint makes a name for himself as the most respected hangman in the country. Pierrepoint was known for executing some of England’s most infamous murderers, such as Ruth Ellis, the last woman ever to be executed in England, as well as his part in the Nuremberg executions. The location was used to film the crowd reaction to the hanging of Ruth Ellis at the end of the film.

The Mummy Naive Librarian Evelyn, alongside her brother Jonathan and handsome American Rick O'Connell journey to the lost city of Hamunaptra to retrieve long lost treasure. When there, they mistakenly unearth a 3000 year old mummy carrying an ancient curse.
